Our drivers are all volunteers but the great service they provide is actually very costly and quite complicated to run. We try to keep our charges affordable, as we want to help more and more people. However, they go nowhere near to covering all our costs.

If you’ve ever owned a car, you can easily imagine that running our vehicles is expensive, with insurance, repairs etc.

The booking system currently costs us a significant sum, though we are aiming for volunteers to work on this to reduce costs.

Our trustees (who are volunteers) work hard to make sure we have all the right processes in place to protect you and your private information, support our volunteer drivers, run the vehicles, raise funds and report back to funders, manage the money transparently, publicise the service and make sure we’re working effectively and efficiently and fulfilling all legal requirements.

It’s quite a job, and it’s not cheap!

How can I help?

Whether you use Belper Community Transport yourself, or can see the difference it’s making to someone close to you, or just want to support our work, there are lots of ways to help. You could…..

  • Join our Board of Trustees to help us to run this vital service.
  • Volunteer your time for driving or taking bookings, publicity, fundraising, admin etc.
  • Remember Belper Community Transport in your will once  you have looked after your family and friends (and let us know, if that’s ok for you).
  • Make a regular donation. Even £5 or £10 a month all adds up to making an important difference
  • Hold a coffee morning or other event and remember Belper Community Tranport if you’re holding a charity fundraiser.
